When do you meet?
Every Thursday from around 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm-ish.

Where do you meet?
We meet in Hennesseys Bar, 30-31 Allison Street, Digbeth, Birmingham, B5 5TJ. Here’s a map of how to find us.

When you arrive at the bar, we are down the stairs, which are at the back left of the room you enter. Or just ask any of the staff – they’re all really nice people!

Do I need to buy anything to play, or bring anything in particular with me on my first night?
No: just turn up and join a game before you buy anything, so you can work out if you like it and want to continue to play!
When you know the game better then you will likely want to buy the players handbook for that system, a few dice and perhaps a figure. But: don’t forget – we are not a wargames kind of club where they play things like Warhammer, which needs an investment of several hundred quid in figures (that you then need to paint) before you can start having fun!
On your first night here, just bring some beer money, a notepad and a few pens and pencils.

Can I just turn up?
Yes. We love it when new people arrive! – we will give you a quick walk-around all of the tables to see what everyone is playing and if anything takes your fancy – and if anyone has space at their table for a new player.

Do I need to pay anything to attend?
Yes. We pay £2 each to hire the room, but apart from that just bring some money to buy drinks and food, and some paper and pencils.

Is the venue inside the Birmingham Clean Air Zone?
Yes. You can check to see if you will need to pay the fee at the government site: but these categories of vehicles will not be charged:

  • Diesel – Euro 6 (VI) standard or better (roughly end of 2015 onwards)
  • Petrol – Euro 4 standard or better (roughly 2006 onwards)
  • Gas – Euro 6 (VI) standard or better
  • Fully electric or hydrogen fuel cell – all are compliant and avoid CAZ charges
  • Hybrid electric – the diesel/petrol engine must meet the relevant criteria above

Where can I park?
The bar is right outside Moor Street carpark and there are a lot of smaller car parks nearby.

Can I bring my own food and drink?
No.

What games do you play?
We play a lot of different games, but there is no doubt that we play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons fifth edition. But – if you turn up with a different game and want to run it, then you will always get people interested!
We have people that play – or have played and will play again:

  • D&D – editions 3.5, 4 and 5
  • Pathfinder
  • Cthulhu
  • Chivalry and Sorcery
  • Vampire
  • Savage Worlds
  • Tunnels & Trolls
  • Stars Without Number
  • Fate
  • Villains & Vigilantes
  • Rolemaster
  • GURPs

Can you recommend a good local game shop?
Yes we can: we love Wayland’s Forge – which is almost literally across the road from the venue!
